Annual Tasting Event and Hunt Teams of Three Tandem
On Friday night, the 17th Annual Tasting Event featured tacos, tequila, wine, and beer tasting provided by the Rosso Wine Shop and presented by Allen Lund Company.
The evening's entertainment was the Hunt Teams of Three Tandem event, which showcased the riding talents and costume creativity of junior and amateur hunt teams. The fun-filled class was won by team "It's a Family Affair," consisting of riders Alison Sweeney, Polly Sweeney, and Megan Sanov. Congratulations "It's a Family Affair," winners of the "In the Spirit of Togetherness Tandem Award"!
The "Elvenstar Angel Award" for best costumes was awarded to "The Queen Bees + Their Royal Flower Garden" team members Ashley Cole, Renee Rodda, and Julie Knoop.
The "Dance of Life Award" was presented to "The Greasers" riders Morgan Yorlano, Sierra Geisler, and Tori Scheck for exhibiting extraordinary teamwork and good sportsmanship in the face of unforeseen difficulty! This award was given in remembrance of Susannah Beazley, who will "dance" in our hearts forever.
In Memory of Allen Lund
West Palms Events and the Flintridge La Canada Guild of Huntington Memorial Hospital remember longtime supporter and friend D. Allen Lund, who passed away April 7, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Allen spent many weekends volunteering at the annual Flintridge Horse Show after his wife Kathie joined the Guild in 1995. He could always be found at the grill frying up made-to-order flapjacks and eggs in the morning and serving attendees and competitors delicious burgers at lunchtime. A huge supporter of the family friendly event, Kathie and Allen were longtime sponsors of the Guild's activities and the Allen Lund Company continues to sponsor the tandem event.
Allen always said he was "just a cowboy at heart" and truly enjoyed the events during horse show weekend. Family was always most important to Allen, and the horse show was just another way he would bring his family and friends together. He would encourage everyone to round up their family and bring them down to the Flintridge Riding Club to enjoy the horses and spend quality time together. Lund will be greatly missed by Kathie, his wife of 57 years, his six children, 22 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
On Saturday, April 28, the Annual Saturday Evening Dinner took place ringside at the $15,000 Grand Prix of Flintridge presented by Land Rover of Pasadena. Attendees enjoyed the gourmet offerings of Cynthia Brooks Distinctive Catering and were entertained by the Dad Beats Band, and of course, the Grand Prix!
The Friday tasting event and Saturday dinner raised valuable funds for the Flintridge La Canada Guild of Huntington Hospital. The proceeds from these events will help Huntington Cancer Center acquire technology that will enable physicians to bring the best possible care to Huntington cancer patients.
